i started pioneering the month i finished high school, and never stopped until i awakened, 17 years later.
it seems like the entire time, there was so much emphasis on pioneering.
every field service meeting seemed to have a part that communicated the message that jehovah would zap us at the big a. or people would die because of us if we didn't have extenuating circumstances (i always translated as bad health or kids, but even then, there were always "examples" of the mom with 5 kids that was pioneering).

i'm currently without a cellphone after reading a text message that made me play twist and internally shout with my cell phone.
been a while since i did something this retarded but it did feel good and natural at the time.
i went to bestbuy for a new phone and decided i dont want to talk with anyone right now anyway.
I threw things when I was younger (early 20's) but I did really well until January of this year. My ex-husband and I were fighting and I threw this hideous piece of art glass that he bought. I tossed it like a frisbee. It tore holes in the wall and shattered in a million pieces. I assured the police that, had I been throwing it to harm him, I would have succeeded and that I can dispose of my property in my house as I see fit. But after I threw it, I remember thinking that the only thing that changes with time are the objects we throw. I went from coffee cups to art glass inside of a decade. Not bad.
I haven't thrown anything else this year.
they called me in to the draftboard for an interview shortly after i turned 19 in 1964. i had registered at 18. got married at 18 yrs.
and 10.5 months.. i sat at a long table before five uniformed officers.
they asked me if there was any reason i could not serve.
My stepfather saw the end of the Korean Conflict and did 2 tours in Vietnam. On one of those tours he was a gunner in a helicopter. He was brave and received the Bronze Star among many other awards. He was a Marine. But he says he doesn't like it when men say to him they feel guilty for not joining back then. He holds no bitterness toward men who didn't enlist. He is bitter about how he was treated upon his return to America. If he has animosity, it's toward those people, not men who didn't enlist.

while i am still kind of new on my journey here, and may have a mixed bag of similarties and differences with all of you, i am in fact fading away from the religion of my youth.
in doing so, i have mostly been left alone.
meaning, my friends and family generally know i am "having a hard time" with a few things.
I don't really have a suggestion being very new to this as well, but I have to say, you must be important and special to get invited to all these dinners.

As a very minor side note, once again women are not important enough to be involved. Only 'brothers'. I don't like that.
If God, being perfect, uses only the WT organization to convey what we need to be taught, there should be no errors. As far as 'the light getting brighter", why would a God of love allow his people to stumble around in darkness in the first place? I don't want to worship a God who doesn't care if his teachings today are accurate or not, and makes absoluty NO haste to correct the teachings we now know to be false until after the fact. I'd really like to think that God, being perfect, would not make errors that need corrected in the fist place. And don't start about the 'human' factor adding errors to his organization because they're not perfect. That's simply not acceptable from a divine, all knowing, all powerful God who wants to teach us something today. It's just not. Sorry.
ethos, these are just my personal feelings. And I'm new at this and not trying to argue. Please don't waste your time or mine with scriptural rebuttal. I know them all. I've had 35 years to learn them. At this point, after so, so many errors in teaching, I'm choosing to use some common sense. You could try, too.
we met after the meeting which i found strange i figured if i was to be named it would be before the meeting.

it basically said that they were happy about my recommendation but they couldnt accept the recommendation of a 16 year old that i should wait until i was at least 17. of course i was not 16. the problem is that in spanish you write the day first the month after.
About education, the book I'm reading right now about cultish behaviors stated that when you limit someone's vocabulary, you limit their cognitive skills. That reminded me of the WT suggesting JWs use the simplified versions of the WAtchtower. I'm glad you got an education! I'm hoping to do the same now.
